Lanore's sculptures are created from a range of different woods, including chestnut, iroko or oak. The artist uses a variety of techniques to shape and burn the wood, resulting in a range of textures and patterns that are truly mesmerizing. The burnt wood gives the pieces a dark and mysterious quality, which is enhanced by the artist's use of abstract shapes and forms. Some of the sculptures seem frozen in motion, as if they were once living creatures that have been turned into stone. Others seem to be unravelling or disintegrating, creating a sense of fragility that is both beautiful and haunting.
